Name (and any nick names)

Career /Famous for

Women’s British Big Air and Boarder X Champion 2007.

Sponsors/Clients

I'm sponsored by Forum Snowboards, Special Blend Outerwear, Anon eyewear, Blueskin clothing, Crack Ho loungewear and Big Dreams Snowboard Specialists.

Favourite phrase or saying

“The more you fear something, the more it is going to hurt.”

Break though experience

I’ve recently been asked to auction off a private lesson and a signed snowboard, for a charity event and been told that it will be highly popular with the guests. It was really special to be asked to do something like that, we’ll see how much I go for!

Greatest moment (s) so far, and whats next for you…..

My greatest competition result was winning two British titles this year. I have to go back and defend them this year. I will also be competing more in European and International Competitions and taking part in as many magazine trips and photo shoots as possible.

Favourite sports/business personality

My friend Jenny Jones, is an awesome role model. She is one of the best snowboarders in the World. She is very focused, self-driven, brave and talented. She also knows how to party and have fun, which is equally important!

Favourite food/film/music/hobby

My favourite food has to be chicken! I love it and goes with everything, well almost everything. I’m very into movies as I watch a lot when I’m away and travelling so I could not possibly narrow it to just one. I have a broad range, from Disney to Quentin Tarrentino films. It’s the same with music, but when I’m riding I listen to Hip Hop. I’m a qualified Tree Surgeon when I’m home. I love being outdoors and it keeps me fit for the winter. I surf, skate, wakeboard, and play most sports when I can, like football, hockey and tennis, I’m a pretty active person.
But when I want to chill out I like to draw, mainly graffiti style.

Motivational tips for self and others

The main thing for me is that I’m having fun and progressing. The minute it stops being fun and I start to get rubbish I will stop.
So have fun, practise a lot, things don’t happen by themselves. A bit of hard work makes it all worthwhile when it all comes together.

My key Champion Behaviour

The main thing is to stay on this planet. If your head gets too big you’ll float off somewhere else. You may get very good at what you do, but you can always be better. Don’t get used to people saying you’re good or great, I try to take it as it’s the first time I’ve been told or might be the last time. You also really have to look after yourself. If you want to be an athlete, you need an athletic body. And you aren’t born with one! So eat well, drink well, sleep well and exercise. I absolutely love it when people ask what I do and I can say, “I’m a snowboarder.” The reason I can say this is because of my hard work and practise and also the people that have helped me along the way, my family, sponsors, photographers, magazines and friends. These were all important in where I am today and in the future, so thank you.

Break though experience

When I crashed my V24 powerboat I demolished my new £40k powerboat that I had worked for 5 years to save up for.  Nearly killed myself in the crash, but I got back up, mended the boat and 3 months later became the first ever women to win the 3 hour endurance race on Lake Windemere and broke 3 records – that was  break through and I realised that I could achieve more!

Greatest moment (s) so far, and whats next for you…..

It’s all about mutual benefit. Don’t ask “What can they do for me”, but ask “What can I do for them”?

Favourite phrase or saying

“A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step”
“Luck is the place where preparation meets opportunity”
”Don’t be concerned about going slow, be concerned about standing still” and my favourite is “ALWAYS LIVE LIFE LARGE”!!!……………………………………

Break though experience

You have to start to believe in yourself. The first time I sailed across the English Channel I was the skipper (and I was only 16), the first time across the Atlantic, the same, I was the Skipper, and pretty young, then cam the chance to sail in the round the world race. I had never done anything like it before, but I  just believed that I could and convinced myself and others!

Greatest moment (s) so far, and whats next for you…..

That’s a tough one actually as there have been so many fantastic moments. Since the round the world race other opportunities have presented themselves and I have taken them. Each one is special and with many more to come (I hope). South Pole next year maybe!! I need to sail around the world again of course!! I believe in “stop learning, stop breathing” the only time you stop learning is just after you’ve stopped breathing!!! I am always learning and enjoying. I also have a very selective memory – anythkng bad just gets forgotten!!!

Favourite sports/business personality

Lawrence Dallaglio – England Rugby player – attitude and demeanour, looks the part and definitely walks the talk.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu – incredible humility, great humanity and tenacity.
Prince Charles – devoted his life to us (UK, Commonwealth etc). Is clever and brave enough to support unpopular and politically incorrect causes and has always been proved right!! Organic farming, architecture, religious tolerance. No matter what the media say, he just gets on with it.

Favourite food/film/music/hobby

Learnt to sail on the Norfolk Broads (so did Nelson) – love sailing in all forms. Holidays are not just about where you are, but, more importantly, who you are with – some of my best holidays have not been in great places, but with great people. Favourite film? – The Jungle Book!! It is all about friendship, support and belief!!! And good songs too!

Motivational tips for self and others

You have to believe in yourself. Even if you do have doubts (and I have had many), you need to just get on and do it and not be afraid to fail. You learn through failure. Always remember that “a wrong decision is better than no decision” and “Give it Large”!!

My key Champion Behaviour

It is the attitude that “no one will do anything for you that you have to take control of your own life” – “your destiny is in your hands” and Enjoy!!!
